These bearings are perfect for the master installer or the first timer. The race is machined to allow one to slide the race in and out of the housing allowing you to easily change the pinion shim to achieve that ideal pattern. And the carrier bearings are honed to allow you to slide the bearings on and off the carrier to allow you to achieve proper backlash. Once you get your correct pattern press on your new bearings and you are done. If you do not have a clamshell style puller, these are essential to insuring you don't damage your new bearings by pulling them on and off. Even if you do have a clamshell puller these eliminate the possibility of a costly accident.
