EPBX - Electronic Braking Systems
Integrated electronic parking brake technology engineered for select ECGS and Dynatrac axles. Full hydraulic braking and electronic parking brake capability in one rear caliper.
Electronic parking brake actuators built into the rear calipers. No traditional parking brake cables.
OE-derived calipers sized with factory brake-system compatibility in mind.
Designed to bolt onto compatible previously purchased ECGS and Dynatrac axles.
Traditional 1-ton axle swaps can introduce larger calipers that require more hydraulic fluid than the factory system was designed to deliver, contributing to excessive pedal travel and a soft or spongy pedal.
EPBX takes a different approach. The rear calipers use hydraulic piston sizing comparable to the Jeep Gladiator JT and are engineered to reduce the need for master cylinder or booster changes on supported applications, while providing electronic parking brake capability within the same caliper.
No separate internal drum-style parking brake and no cable routing through the chassis. EPBX uses the rear caliper for regular hydraulic braking and electronically actuated parking.
Add the optional MODULE-EBCU control module and vehicle-specific wiring harness to enable the parking brake. The single harness is built to the length required for the supported vehicle, simplifying routing through the frame.
Two Functions.
The electronic parking brake is integrated into the hydraulic rear caliper rather than handled by a separate parking brake mechanism.
The electronic actuator can also be replaced independently of the caliper, helping reduce replacement costs when the actuator alone needs service.
EPBX combines a 14-inch rear rotor with an OE-derived caliper and a rotor designed around the 8x6.5-inch wheel bolt pattern. The package is engineered for strong braking performance without unnecessary rotor weight.
- 14-inch rotor package: Designed as a lighter-weight alternative to traditional 1-ton rear brake arrangements using comparable 13-inch rotors.
- Purposeful rotor design: A shallower rotor hat eliminates the need to package an internal mechanical parking brake and helps reduce rotor mass.
- OE-based service components: Uses production-derived calipers and rotors for practical replacement-part sourcing. Replacement rotors require the specified center-bore machining before installation.
- Integrated caliper EPB: Hydraulic braking and electric parking actuation share the same caliper assembly.
Comparative weight and stopping-performance claims will be finalized after controlled testing on representative axle and vehicle combinations.
14-Inch Rotor Package
OE-derived rotor and integrated rear caliper, designed for the heavy-duty axle applications EPBX supports.
Integrated Mounting
Custom bracketry integrates the caliper and actuator into the axle assembly without a separate drum-style parking brake.
EPBX positions the caliper higher and farther from trail obstacles than typical low-mounted 1-ton rear brake configurations. The elevated clocking is also designed with brake bleeding access in mind.
The caliper and actuator package is designed not to project farther inward than the conventional 1-ton brake arrangement it replaces, helping preserve the space needed for suspension links, axle brackets, and other components.
17-Inch Wheel Compatibility
Designed to fit many off-road 17-inch wheels with a minimum 16.125-inch inside wheel barrel diameter. Check actual wheel geometry and caliper clearance before installation.
Compact Inboard Packaging
Careful caliper and actuator placement helps preserve space around axle brackets and suspension hardware.
High-Mounted Caliper
Raised caliper clocking improves clearance from rocks and trail hazards compared with typical low-mounted setups.
- Bolt-on retrofit: On compatible existing ECGS and Dynatrac axles, the caliper bracket attaches at the existing backing-plate flange without modifying the flange.
- Removable brake assembly: The mounting assembly can be unbolted to provide faster access to hub seals and bearings for service.
- Separately replaceable actuator: Replace the electronic parking brake actuator without automatically replacing the complete caliper.
- Vehicle-specific harness: A single, correctly sized wiring harness runs through the vehicle frame to the electronic parking brake controller.
- Vehicle electronics integration: Designed for compatibility with supported Jeep ABS and vehicle electronic systems; vehicle-specific fitment and validation apply.
EPBX is not limited to new axle assemblies. Eligible existing ECGS and Dynatrac axles can receive the EPBX brake package using mounting points already present on compatible axle flanges.
Whether the original axle had a traditional cable brake or no parking brake, EPBX provides a path to integrated electronic parking control.
